How do I design and build my site?
There are two ways in which you may design your site. The first way is to use a text editor (i.e. Notepad) and use HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) and design your site. The easier way however is to use a commercial site builder that allows you do design a website with the simplicity similar to a word processing program.

Can I use other web design tools?
Yes, you can use any HTML editor, web design or development program you wish. We recommend NetObjects Fusion , Microsoft FrontPage, Macromedia Dreamweaver, and Netscape Composer because they are easy to use and publish.

How do I upload my web pages?
After designing your website, you will need to send or upload your pages and pictures to our servers. The username and password for uploading your files are in the instructions you received after your account was set-up.

Click here for detailed step-by-step instructions on how to use an FTP program to send files. Remember to place all your webpages into the /web directory and your main page should be called index.html

I use a Mac, does that matter?
Generally speaking there shouldn't be any problems with you using a Apple Macintosh computer or any computer to design your site.

How do I publish using Microsoft FrontPage?
If you use Microsoft Frontpage, till we support the Frontpage extensions, you can still publish your website via FTP. Just make sure the directory path is set to: /web . Some features such 'web bots' will not work till the extensions are available.

Do you have any web design tips?
To create professional business websites, keep your design simple. Here are a few tips.

Avoid flashy backgrounds, use a simple white background

Stick to a few fonts. Use Arial, Verdana or Times for text.

If you use an image editor, save photos as jpg images and titles as gifs.

If you use photos keep the file sizes small for fast downloading.

Avoid use of frames since users tend to feel trapped.

Make it easy for customers to contact you. Use forms to accept queries etc. See our
